Chinese Graphic Design

Get Lost In Twentieth Century Chinese Graphic Design

This awesome book from 2010 will let you get lost in thought looking at the wonderful complexity of a culture that few westerners understand—Chinese culture. To paraphrase the description from Amazon, the book takes us from the beginnings of Chinese graphics, to the arrival of Art Deco to Shanghai, the influence or Russian Constructivism, and the search for a new identity by the late 80’s.

Much like global culture and history is increasingly becoming one large story about the family of humanity, so is the history of Graphic Design. And knowing the relationships and the influences adds depth to our visual language as designers. Just perusing the samples was great fun. This would be an awesome coffee-table book.

I ran across this book on Designer Daily. You can get the book from Amazon here.
